Alienware Headphones

For this project I was tasked with creating a CAD model of a pair of headphones with the visual characteristics of a freely-chosen company: in this case I chose Alienware. Once the model had been designed I then had to render it and create two presentation boards and a 45 second animation displaying an exploded view of all the different parts (excluding electricals).
Inspiration
As inspiration for the headphones I looked at different Alienware products and tried to understand their characteristics. The most common features are an always prominent, illuminated logo as well as light strips on surfaces in the brand's classic blue. A metallic-look finish is fairly common in Alienware products, so I tried to incorporate this aspect into my design. I also liked the aesthetics of the Monster DNA headphones and used these as a style reference to base my design around.

All LED parts are illuminated in the typical Alienware blue, but with an option to edit this in the Alienware Command Center (where it is possible to customize all Alienware devices such as keyboards and mice) to select more colours. The space in the Main Cup Loft is large enough to house a headphone speaker, and the wires connecting the two speakers pass through the Head Rest Casing. The holes in the Cup base allow sound to pass through the headphones easily, and the Mesh Sheet protects the interior parts from the outside. Finally, the cushions create better support and comfort.
Inspiration Impact
The headphones draw inspiration from Monster DNA headphones, with their triangular Cup shape. I added a metallic finish on the Cup Top, Cup Loft and the Top Headrest Shell, since this is a characteristic shared by many other Alienware products. Some LED strips were also added to the design, a feature often seen on Alienware PCs. Finally, I added some branding in the middle of each Cup and on the top of the Head Rest.

Presentation Boards
For the Presentation Boards I was required to display the product from using different views, including orthographic projections, branding and an exploded view.
Animation
This animation was created in Fusion 360. It shows a rotation around the product, followed by an exploded view of the different parts and a clear display of the branding.
